Hindu Business Line, 14 May 2003

Visitor arrivals from India to Singapore dropped by 71 per cent to 2,400 during the week ended May 5 from the year ago due to the SARS scare, the Singapore Tourism Board said on Tuesday.

It said total visitor arrivals were down by 75 per cent to just 36,300 during the week. The biggest drop was in visitor arrivals from China, down 95 per cent to 1,000 during the April 29-May 5 week.

The board said travel advisories and alerts by various countries led to the big drop in visitor arrivals.
