Finance and banking - Singapore is an ideal centre for Indian companies to raise capital. Singapore can serve as a supplementary financial centre for India.
Infrastructure - Singapore can serve as a model and source for developing infrastructure in India, which is now a priority of the Government of India.
Retail - Retail is another area of specialization where India has much to learn from Singapore.
Logistics and communication - Singapore is an excellent logistics and communication hub which Indian companies are increasingly using to distribute products into the regional markets as well as to manage global operations.
Agriculture - Indian agriculture can benefit from Singapore expertise in agricultural packaging and transportation.
Training and development, especially in ICT is an area in which India and Singapore are already making headway in cooperation. The two countries signed an MoU on Third Country Training Programme to conduct joint training courses in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar.
Education - Singapore is interested in developing itself as a centre for higher education, by cooperating with institutions of higher learning such as the IITs.
Singapore can act as hub for opening up India’s access to the Southeast Asian market – whereas Singapore may benefit from its access to the huge Indian market as well as its capacities to work on projects in third countries.
The CECA has opened many more avenues to boost India Singapore trade. The document needs to be studied in detail and the analyses disseminated in user-friendly fashion to Indian and Singapore industry in order to optimise bilateral trade and investment in relevant sectors.
