SINGAPORE,
April 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Singapore companies secured overseas
contracts worth 2.5 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.5
billion US dollars) in 2004, more than double the volume
of the previous year, Channel NewsAsia reported on Friday
night.
The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) attributed
the record high amount in the past 10 years to robust
exports to India, China and the Middle East.
BCA figures showed that exports to India surged almost
10 times over the previous year to account for about 30
percent of the total overseas deals won by Singapore contractors
in 2004, while exports to China jumped over 80 percent
from a year ago. Enditem.
