Temasek plays the border beats Satish John

MUMBAI: Temasek, the Singapore-based foreign institutional investor (FII), among the early birds to have spotted India as an investment destination, has different strategies for India and China — the two fast-growing economies in the world.

The bulge bracket FII from Singapore viewed India as an attractive investment destination much before other foreign investment firms like Blackstone and Carlyle set foot into the country.

Temasek, getting an early whiff of the unfolding India story, would perhaps have been facilitated by the geographical proximity and political connections of the two countries.
Its criteria for investing in India and China are very different. Even the scale of investments varies for the two countries.
