IIndia
and Singapore are natural partners and over the years there has been a substantial
increase in bilateral relations between the two countries both at the government
and at industry level. The
process of establishing the comprehensive economic co-operation agreement between
India and Singapore is on track and the successful launch of Network India underlines
the importance that is being given to strengthening business linkages between
the two countries.
To
further this agenda and to encourage Indian companies build new linkages and new
partnerships in Singapore, in ASEAN and in China, CII has established an initiative
called Bridge Singapore. This initiative was discussed
during the visit of the CII Core Group in October 2002.
Aims and Objectives

To encourage Indian companies
to establish new businesses in Singapore. -
To
promote cooperation between Companies and organizations in India with counterparts
in Singapore both with respect to trade, economic and investment cooperation in
India and Singapore and also third countries. -
To
organise events focusing on Small and Medium Enterprises, Quality, Infrastructure,
Healthcare, Insurance, Financial Services, Tourism, Biotechnology, IPR, ICT, Education,
Technology and other areas in India and partner Network India in Singapore.

To work closely
with organizations in Singapore to look at a China-India- ASEAN network for promoting
trade and economic cooperation. -
To
identify and catalyse joint projects for investments in Indo-china countries.

To organise sector
specific delegation to Singapore focusing on Biotechnology, Bio-informatics, Healthcare,
Insurance, SMEs, Infrastructure, Tourism and other sectors as may be identified.

To organsie specific
seminars in Singapore such as Tourism, Infrastructure, Special Economic Zones
and Similar seminars in India with greater participation from the ASEAN region

To organise a multi-sectoral
delegation to third countries in the Asean region or as may be identified.

To create an awareness
amongst Indian exporters to look at Singapore as a gateway for their products
and services into the Southeast Asian region and explore benefits from Singapores
FTA with Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the United States of America.
